About Paul
Paul Houghton is a highly experienced chartered town planner and development consultant with a 30 years’ proven track record in both the private and public sectors.
He operates extensively across both rural and urban areas, servicing a large client base. Paul is retained long term by many clients both private and corporate to handle planning and development related matters.
Paul is goal orientated and focussed on providing his clients with the best representation and advice possible based on common sense and his in-depth knowledge of his field.
He has project managed and secured planning permissions for numerous retail, commercial, office, industrial, mixed use, residential and renewables (wind and biomass) developments over the years. He has extensive experience in the rural sector. He has also acted as an expert witness at well over 50 hearings and public inquiries.
Paul draws on extensive experience having previously held a variety of senior level roles in national surveying and planning consultancies. He has also worked at a senior level in a national housebuilder. During his early career Paul worked in the public sector in both land use policy formulation and development management positions.
He holds degrees in environmental planning, law and geography and is a graduate of Loughborough, Nottingham and Nottingham Trent Universities. He is a member of the Royal Town Planning Institute.
